Twice a year, for one week in April and two weeks in September, Pigeon Forge in Tennessee becomes THE hot rod capital of the solar system with what’s become colloquially known as “The Rod Runs”. Officially, these are hot rod exhibitions at the LeConte Convention Center with the Shades of the Past Rod Run taking place at Dolly’s Splash Country near Dollywood, but how it actually plays out is the entire town functionally turns into one big car show party from one end to the other. It’s a very popular occasion and it has been for many Springs and Autumns past and the reason for it is self-evident – hundreds of incredible cars parading up and down the street and thousands and thousands having the times of their lives during the weekend.
